Resource Archiver

From Football Manager Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

The resource archiver is basically a file editor for Football Manager files that can be edited by the user. They are the files that end in .fmf.

The resource archiver can be found in the following location:

C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager X\tools\resource archiver

Make sure you are very careful when using the resource archiver, these files are important to the game and using this program incorrectly could damage the game. If there is anything you are unsure about, it would be wise to ask on the SI Community Forums to ensure you do it correctly.

In the same location as the resource archiver itself, there is a 'User Guide' to this program. If your computer can open PDF files, you could give that a read.

How to use it

On the home screen of the resource archiver, there are just six buttons. They are as follows.

Credits and Help

These simply credit the people involved in the making of the resource archiver, and tell you briefly how to use the program.

Extract Archive

This is the most commonly used option. It simply extracts the whole of the .fmf file in the location you specify.

This option extracts the whole of the .fmf file. If you want to extract only part of the file, read the Browse Archive part of the page.

Create Archive

This is used for making .fmf files. If you click on this button, you will be asked to select what you would like to make into a .fmf file. This could be used for making a facepack a .fmf file, for example.

If you make a fmf file, put it in the following location for it to work:

C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager X\data

It must not have any spaces, capital letters or punctuation (other than _ or -) in the name. That makes names like 'my facepack', 'Facepacks' or 'facepacks!' unsuitable.

Browse Archive

This option lets you look inside a .fmf file before you open it. If, for example, you selected to browse fonts.fmf, it would open a list on the archiver of all the files that are inside the .fmf file you have specified. For example, with the fonts.fmf file, the following appears:

Extract Selected

This option is greyed out on default.

It only becomes an option when you have browsed through a .fmf file using the 'Browse Archive' button.

An example of this is the fonts.fmf file. If you were to select 'verabd', it would extract just that file in the location you specified instead of the whole fonts folder.

If you were to extract just the 'verabd' file, it would appear where you download it to in the folder 'fonts' > 'verabd'

To select more than one file from the .fmf file, press 'Ctrl' and click the files you wish to be extracted.
